    Need to de-stress after the semester? Come join Graduate Education Coordinator, Kayla Arnold, and Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Education, Gary Pierzynski, for holiday themed crafts, snacks, and warm drinks! Hot cider, hot cocoa, and cookies will be provided. We will have crafting supplies available, all you need to do is show up. If you can’t make the entire time, we also encourage you to stop in and grab some snacks as your schedule permits. Event is open to CFAES graduate students and postdoctoral scholars.

    Do you have an idea for a business or are you interested in working in industry? Join Zachary Ellis from the Corporate Engagement Office for an interactive workshop about entrepreneurship – the process of designing, launching, and running a new business. In this workshop, we will discuss general trends of companies working in the agricultural and food sciences (such as creating new foods, ingredients, and agricultural inputs). Additionally, we will discuss how to commercialize your own ideas or research, including running a startup company.

    This boot camp will provide you with a brief overview of how to set SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely) goals and tips on writing. Each person will be given a post-it and will establish a writing goal for the day. At a break or at the end of the day everyone will go over their goals, discuss if they were met, and identity challenges/obstacles to writing and how to approach them.  Lunch will be provided during this session.     Do you need a professional photo taken for a resume or social networking site such as LinkedIn? We have arranged for one of our CFAES photographers to take professional photos on November 6. There are 15-minute time slots available from 10-2pm. Please sign up in advance if you would like to participate.
