Living in Wooster

Wooster

About Wooster

Wooster, Ohio is located about 90 miles (roughly 1.5 hour drive) north of Columbus. Wooster, a rural community with a population of about 27,000, is home to two college campuses, including The Ohio State University Wooster Campus and the College of Wooster. In 2018, Wooster was named one of Money's best places to live, partially due to it's historic downtown and role as an agricultural center. Hosting a variety of festivals, food options, and cultural events, Wooster is also home to the Wayne Center for the Arts, which holds numerous performances throughout the year. There are also many fun things to do in and around Wooster - from visiting one of the many parks in town, to traveling to one of the many nearby cities such as Akron or Canton.

Transportation

The City of Wooster recently announced a new public transportation service, WayGo. This will provide both a fixed-route and an on-demand option. The fixed-route will have a stop across the street from Bob Evans, north of our campus (about a 20-minute walk). This service will run Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with a $1 fare. CFAES Wooster is also included in the on-demand service. Booking within a 24-hour notice will cost $6 one-way. For more information, including the downloadable app, please visit their website: https://www.woosteroh.com/waygo#.

For students located in Wooster looking to travel outside of the city, GoBus provides transportation to Columbus and other locations across Ohio (including Akron, Cleveland, and Mansfield). Tickets are required for riding the GoBus.

There is also graduate student ride-share option available for students who need to travel to Columbus for courses. If you are interested in this option, you can contact CFAES fleet services by emailing Bill Koshar at koshar.3@osu.edu.
